Bare Birch Soap Company is a small business on a mission to create simple, sustainable and non-toxic, self-care products that feed your skin, using only the best ingredients in nature.  

We’re sick of the toxic alternatives out there, not made in the best interest of us, or our planet. We want to be better than that. And, we want to share our better-made products with you!

 

Meet the maker

I’m Stacey Richter, founder of Bare Birch Soap Company and maker of natural soap and skin care products. I started this company out of necessity—to give my friends, family, and myself all-natural alternatives to the everyday products we use most. Here’s how my journey to Bare Birch began.

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t deal with skin irritations—acne, eczema, hives—you name it.

Then, in early 2017, it wasn’t just my skin acting up. Four years after the birth of my son Jase, I woke up one morning feeling completely unwell. My heart was racing, I was nauseous, anxious, and exhausted—and to make matters worse, my hair started falling out at an alarming rate.

For the next two years, I saw doctor after doctor with no answers. Ten medical specialists later, I was finally diagnosed with a rare heart condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

During that journey, I learned a lot about how what we put on our bodies can affect our health—just as much as what we eat. Our skin is highly porous, and many of the chemicals in everyday products can enter the bloodstream and disrupt our body’s natural balance.

That knowledge, combined with a passion for creating healthy, natural alternatives, is what led me to start Bare Birch Soap Company. My mission has always been simple: craft skin care that’s safe, nourishing, and derived from nature.

 

 

Our all-natural standard 

 

Crafting 100% natural products is our way of life. It's at the core of everything we do, no exceptions. We define “natural” as simple, safe, and nourishing ingredients derived from mother earth. That means no additives or fillers, no dyes, and no toxic perfumes.

Plant-based, cruelty-free 

We mindfully create 100% cruelty-free products, made from a blend of natural plant-based oils that have only ever been tested on willing humans. Our recipes are free from palm oil, phthalates, sulphates, petroleums, and parabens, and completely vegan—with the exception of our Lip Butters and Honeycomb & Oats Soap, which infuses honey and beeswax for those with extremely dry skin.

 

 

Good for you and the environment 

Our products are created from natural ingredients derived from mother earth herself. That means there’s nothing in our recipes that will harm you or the environment. We responsibly package every product with sustainability in mind, using only recyclable, reusable, or compostable materials. Choose to buy your soaps “bare” and we’ll eliminate the packaging altogether. It’s one small step we can take together to reduce waste in our landfills and oceans.

Canadian made, quality first 

Every product is handmade in the heart of Canada: Ontario. We create our soap and lip butters in small batches so we can ensure the highest standard of quality. Wherever possible, we locally source ingredients to support our community and like-minded small businesses.
